Paul LePage Copies Regulation Rollback Ideas From Businesses

by Stuart Shapiro

Several months ago, I expressed outrage when Congressman Darrell Issa asked for businesses to suggest regulations to be eliminated.  Apparently, Maine Governor Paul LePage thought Issa was not only on to something, he didn’t go far enough (h/t Laura Clawson).

Confidential administration dossiers show Governor Paul LePage crafted significant portions of his regulatory reform agenda by literally copying and pasting passages from the memos his staff received from corporate lobbyists and their clients, turning swaths of it into little more than a set of giveaways to favored companies.

Rep. Jerry Nadler: We Don’t Have A Budget Crisis

Congressman Jerry Nadler of New York says we have an employment crisis, but not a deficit crisis.

“That’s the real crisis – the unemployment, not the deficit. We don’t have a deficit problem right now. In the long term, we have a deficit problem – we’ve got to get it under control but not right now,” said Nadler at the Capitol on Wednesday.

I’d rather have that than 100 million exposed to something vacuous and inaccurate.”

Belafonte said that “in pursuit of ego, in pursuit of large, ridiculous sums of money, we have sold our birthright that somehow we are more victim than we are responsible.”…

hermain-cain-flag-cropped-proto-custom_2

Herman Cain spoke at a Northern Virginia mosque and apologized for some of his past statements about Islam.

“While I stand by my opposition to the interference of sharia law into the American legal system, I remain humble and contrite for any statements I have made that might have caused offense to Muslim Americans and their friends,” he said in the statement. “I am truly sorry for any comments that may have betrayed my commitment to the U.S. Constitution and the freedom of religion guaranteed by it.”

…”As I expected, we discovered we have much more in common in our …
