An interactive map shows new Census Bureau data on the makeup of the United States.

• America’s white population continued to be the largest race group – 75% of the total population. But it is growing at a slower rate than the total population

• Much of the numerical growth of the white population is accounted for by larger numbers of whites who identify as Hispanics

• The population growth of white people mixed with another race is rapidly growing, by a rate of at least 8% in every state

• America’s black population is still mostly resident in the South

• Click on each state to check out the data – or use the dropdown menu to see different views

Here’s the state-by-state data.
