Mississippi voters will decide on election day if a fertilized egg is a person (h/t Politicususa).

Initiative 26 will appear on the ballot with this question: “Should the term “person” be defined to include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning, or the equivalent thereof?”

It would amend the constitution to define a person to include “every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning, or the functional equivalent thereof.”

…Physicians, especially those who deal with reproductive issues, see this initiative as interfering with treatment of women, which could be dangerous as well as intrusive on private medical decisions.

If a zygote is determined to be a person, will right-wingers next fight for their right to carry guns?
