Philadelphia DA Seth Williams won’t pursue the death penalty against Mumia Abdul-Jamal (via Global Grind).

Mumia instead will serve a life sentence for killing city police Officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. It seems that the change is due, in part, to Mr. Faulkner’s widow, who requested that the appeals process comes to an end…

 The Supreme Court decided in October it would not hear the case, forcing prosecutors to decide how they wanted to proceed.
