President Obama has invited his predecessor and wife Laura to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait.

The White House confirmed on Friday that the Bushes are slated to revisit their Washington home of eight years on May 31 for a rare joint appearance between the current and past presidents.

The former president’s only previous high-profile visit to the Obama White House was in early January 2010, when he and Bill Clinton joined the current president for a meeting on Haiti earthquake relief efforts.
