As of 1pm today, the Election Protection Hotline of Wisconsin had received 594 calls with questions and concerns including allegations of poll workers improperly asking voters to present ID to vote. According to the Caledonia Patch:

“A voter received a voicemail from an unidentified voicemail falsely stating that if you voted in a recall primary you don’t need to vote in the recall election.”

A press release from the Election Protection group also stated:

“There have been numerous reports, including calls to the 1-866-OUR-VOTE hotline, about deceptive robocalls telling voters who signed the recall petitions or voted in the recall primary that they do not need to vote today.”

In March, Wisconsin Circuit Judge Richard Neiss  struck down the 2010 voter ID law that would have required voters to show photo identification at the polls. Walker had approved the law in May of 2010. The case, brought on by the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, was won this March with Neiss’ decision. Of course, Walker’s spokesman merely claimed that this was in the works by activists and activist judges.

As exit polls are currently rolling in, all eyes are on Wisconsin. All eyes, except, as some accuse, the President’s.

Criticism has also unfolded around President Barack Obama’s arms length approach to the election. The President tweeted earlier yesterday:

It’s Election Day in Wisconsin tomorrow, and I’m standing by Tom Barrett. He’d make an outstanding governor. -bo

However, some bloggers and more progressive democrats wonder where the weight of the White House was during campaign season and the final weekend of GOTV. RNC chairman Reince Priebus, responded to the tweet with

Reince Priebus ‏@Reince @BarackObama – bold tweet from the President who wouldn’t actually campaign with him or step foot in Wisconsin. #istandwithwalker

Obviously, disassociation from Barrett would be important to the Obama campaign in the event that he loses tonight. But we all know that the party will claim victory for this if Walker is defeated.
