While the USPS doesn’t technically deliver international packages themselves, I can drop a package off with the USPS and a few days later it’ll be delivered anywhere in the world for little more than domestic postage.
So, for all practical purposes the USPS does indeed deliver international packages.
I’ve mailed USPS recently to Australia, France, and Switzerland without problems. Delivery time to all was less than 5 days. Similar service is obviously available from UPS or FedEx but the cost is considerably higher.
But, oddly, conservatives will still claim that the private/for-profit UPS (or FedEx) is a better deal than the USPS and that they somehow operate more efficiently.
Even though they don’t.
Even though USPS is the far better deal for most of us.
It all makes little sense. But so little makes sense, these days.
The Post Office more than competes with UPS and it’s not even a fair apples/apples comparison anyway.
The Post Office keeps a staffed office in nearly every town, no matter how small. Nearly all of us have a Post Office within a few miles of where we live. The Post Office delivers 6 days/week. The Post Office delivers internationally for little more than the domestic postage charge. The mailman will pick up a package at the house for “free”. Postal employees are almost always friendly with the time to at least say “hi”.
UPS maintains no local offices, only the regional dock the delivery trucks dispatch from. The nearest UPS facility to me is 50 miles away and I’m hardly atypical. UPS operates 5 days/week. While UPS will deliver internationally, the extra fees can be a killer. UPS charges extra to pickup a package at the house. UPS drivers are usually friendly but they’re “monitored” with little time for anything but to drop the package and run.
Better yet, most packages are probably cheaper to mail USPS than UPS.
Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this tropic port,

the Skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day,

How proud we must be of ourselves, to have to venture off into part of the old Soviet Empire to find a nice spot for a new American prison facility as a work around of that old, moldy scrap of paper … the US Constitution.
Why even employ expensive Americans at the new prison? Better value Soviet goons could have been brought out of retirement for pennies/hr.
I’m glad someone else didn’t understand much of the Palin interview.
I thought perhaps I couldn’t understand her magnificent oratory because I’m just too stupid and unable to keep up with Sarah’s great intellect.
Or, not.
Suzanne doesn’t sound like her facebook picture. We’ve also heard CherylCarroll call in before with her good radio voice. Joel had a better facebook photo with the “Andrew Dice Clay” look before he turned all preppy. I can’t imagine what the “Turkey” or “Bishop Cat” facebookers would sound like though.
Nearly all GOPers are too old to remember what “sex” is.
The only thing you’d see at a GOP convention in the event Carrie’s porno tapes were shown, would be a lot of bewildered white faces wondering, “what’s that youngster doin’ up there on that big screen Beatrice?”
“These” same people also call in to Colmes every night and he tries to reason with them or calmly debunk their insanity.
But you’re wasting your time. These people are beyond reason. It’s possible they themselves don’t even believe their garbage. It’s time to start “fighting” back.

How Can We Afford War But Not Health Care?

Finally.
Game over.
Leave Iraq. Get out of Afghanistan. End of story.

My guess is she only looks at the pretty pictures.

All of them had hair of gold,
like their mother,
the youngest one in curls.
