Now wait, is the church in Wichita or Kansas City? Which is it? It’s a 200 mile difference – twice the distance from New York to Philadelphia. There’s that excellent fact checking again…
Getting offended by this ad is almost as silly as getting offended by someone offering a friendly and well-intentioned “Merry Christmas”. Almost as silly because this ad looks intended to at least create controversy if not to actually give offense, so it is isn’t friendly and well-intentioned.
If Obama has no bad intentions (and I agree that he doesn’t) then a few watchful eyes aren’t going to hurt him. In fact, even if his intentions are the best, he’s just one man, so it never hurts to keep a watchful eye on an increasingly powerful government.
“the belief in the free markets (oh, like bailing out private companies?)”
It immediately jumped to my mind that Mike Pence opposed the bailout and took me about 10 seconds to confirm it. Crack research staff you have there, Alan.
Key words “bar fight”. It’s a terrible thing, but some people go into bars looking for trouble. Apparently Kevin T. Flanagan is one of them. Hopefully he’ll be thrown out of the service. More importantly, we should all be wishing Mr. Moreno a quick and full recovery.
Thanks for pointing this out. I assume you contacted the state GOP (for whatever state Midland County is in) so they could determine if it was legally possible to give him the boot? By the way is Bob Byrd still in the Senate leadership?
“Precinct delegates” are usually unopposed. Not sure about whatever state he is in, but in my state if unopposed your name doesn’t even appear on the ballot – you get the job automatically just by filing. The same applies to Democrats, so had he wanted to call himself a Democrat, he could probably be a “precinct delegate” for them.
Would you prefer that we scream at the top of our lungs about stolen elections like unhinged lunatics? Really, we have good examples to follow if you’d rather have that. I can’t believe you’re complaining about people losing with grace.
Two other important points. First, conservatives are proud of the country because the system works. The transfer of the most political, military and economic power in history is still happening peacefully. That’s a huge achievement.
Second, you might also consider that many of the things the President-elect has said are appealing even to those of us who may disagree with many of his policy points. For example, in New Hampshire in January, he said this:
“Democrats, independents and Republicans who are tired of the division and distraction that has clouded Washington, who know that we can disagree without being disagreeable…”
Too bad some of his followers can’t get that last part.
Wow. I was impressed, touched and even inspired by the President-elect’s speech tonight. I was hopeful for the positive things his victory means even though I disagree with him on most policy issues. Then I came here and read this. So much for moving past partisan rancor.
Alan, it’s not just that he can’t referee every ad it’s ILLEGAL for him to get involved with ads not put out by his campaign. The campaign finance laws, overwhelmingly supported by Democrats and largely opposed by Republicans, prohibit McCain from coordinating ads with the RNC, local GOP committees and independent groups.
Economists refer to this as “the law of unintended consequences.” Others refer to it as paving the road to Hell with good intentions.
Actually Alan, a lot of us think well of you, but some of your fellow liberals who comment here are, to borrow a phrase from Michelle Obama, downright mean. Seriously, read the things your liberal commenters said in reply to this post.
An ACORN representative on your network (being interviewed by Neil Cavuto) said, “Republicans haven’t spent a cent on voter registration” in 40 years. Sorry, but according to ACORN, Republicans don’t register voters, so this story must be a fabrication.
Alan, I think you’re missing the point. This guy isn’t some great hero who you can tear down and eliminate. He just represents an idea – that the little guy that liberal elitists claim to champion often wants nothing more than to get past day to day struggles, tax liens and stagnant sales in our business and BE rich like you. All the crap you’re piling on just makes this guy that much more attractive to the millions of us in similar positions. Were you born with a silver spoon in your mouth that you don’t remember a time when you were trying to “make it”? There are millions of us out here who do struggle day-to-day, but we don’t want to tax you to pay our way, we just want to earn it and keep it once we have. I know you’re not overly religious, but surely you’re at least a little familiar with the 10th commandment, right?
“I don’t mind paying just a little bit more than the waitress that I just met over there who’s things are slow and she can barely make the rent.”
If that’s what Obama meant, it doesn’t take tax increases on the wealthy to do it. All it takes is rich, liberal elitists putting their money where their mouths are and tipping a bit better. (Though I will say that Obama supporters do tip better than Kerry supporters, but not as well as Ron Paul supporters.)
I’m sure there were the odd people who worked for the Iraqi government in one role or another who weren’t bad people. On the other hand, there is one really damning sentence about Timmons in the article:
World Net Daily doesn’t represent “the right wing”. It’s kind of like Wikipedia – occasionally useful for getting started in doing other research, but always to be taken with a serious grain of salt.
