Liddy is a real class act. He is a great poster child for pro choice. He is one of the reason why there is a solid minority for republicans in both houses. Americans a tired of such lame, ridiculous, attacks.
Well now….ebonics? I’m glad you acknowledge some form of climate change being an issue….you just eclipsed half the Texas congresspeople with that revelation…
It is sad that you resort to such pathetic tactic…..and you forgot all the money he saved by having his mother in law babysit the kids. LOL….
Much ado about nothing…..
I think it might be fascinating to note that the California High Court did not strike down gay marriage. The court upheld the legislation by ballot that California has adopted. The nature of the ballot issue is not as important to the court as the ability to alter the constitution by such initiative measures.
If it were unconstiturional, they would have reversed teh 18000 marriages already sanctioned. So, proposition 8’s content was not important to the court.
I would expect a proposition not only approving gay marriage to arise in California, but a measure to enhance the original concept into a firmer definition of the rights entailed in marriage.
Dee, repeating the same posting in another thread doesn’t make your argument any more relevant than before. In fact, it is just sad.
Why are you so fearfilled? Why do you not believe that homosexuals are any less moral than you? I do not see any homosexuals coming out and saying that only homosexual marriage should be recognized. They are not the ones trying to take away your rights in favor of somehow “protecting” their own. Sad, fearfilled, bigotry.
I wonder if they will figure out that policy is not the same as legislation? The judge was referring to policy of handling cases placed before the court, not legislative interpretation. One might benefit from hearing the context of the comment so often improperly characterized and shown on certain networks.
Oh, Rush? Well, you get ten attaboys for being the jerk that you are. You keep showing us why you are trusted less than Osama Bin Laden. BTW, Bin Laden’s publica approval ratings are close to Rush’s. LOL
I’m afraid the next few months will be filled with spewed mud, whispered lies, distortions galore, and coffers filled with money from radical right wing contributors….all in the name of “vetting”. In the end, it will boil down to one or three senators realizing that the latino vote may be more important than pleasing Mitch McConnel, Michael Steele, or even Lord Limberger.
I’m afraid, Dee, that many hetrosexuals see homosexual behavior as moral and normal. I am one of them. I am not gay, but certainly, I believe that homosexuals of either sex are both normal and many times, more moral than their heterosexual persecutors. You ask why not give the same rights to homosexuals, and I agree…but, it is not acceptable to call a marriage anything more or less than it is…a marriage of two people who love each other. My issue is simple, it doesn’t deminish my marriage, or any other marriage I know of because someone enters into the commitment that I so cherish. I do believe that people who adamently oppose the concept of accepting homosexual marriage do so out of fear…fears of many varieties and sources. It is unfortunate that their reaction to their internal fears is to strike out and limit the rights of someone who they fear. Now, there is an unfortunate sin…to reduce someone else’s pursuit of happiness in favor of securing one’s own selfish needs and wants. Sad.
I believe the term, “Enhanced Interrogation Tecniques” is an oxymoron. It certainly has nothing to do with enhancing anything….it brutilizes, not makes better.
General Petraeus expresses the common military contention that torture does our soldiers more harm than any percieved good. The “enemy” will fight harder and will kill themselves rather than surrender to an adversary who tortures. It goes back to the 16th and 17th century concept of granting “quarter”. Adversaries were offered quarter and in exchange, would provide civil exchange with the victor. If “no quarter” was imposed, people would fight with tremendous verosity and brtality in return.
Also, if one was known not to offer quarter, and would, indeed, torture the vanquished…opponents would rather kill themselves rather than submit to such treatment.
They would also become as brutal to enemy combatants in captivity as the percieved “no quarter” opponent.
General Petraeus certainly honors such concepts since they have proven truthful throughout history.
We, as a country, cannot ask for quarter when we do not offer it….and we tortured, so why wouldn’t our opponent grant no mercy to us?
Petraeus is smarter than whoever supports the “eit” (or torture techniques as normally known around the world), regardless of the “effectiveness” which the consensus of knowledgable professionals discount….if it were otherwise, we’d continue the practice…which was halted in 2005. Why? Did we run out of good subjects for torture? I sincerely doubt that we have, so Petraeus and the consensus of knowledgable professionals outweigh has been politicians of a disgraced administration.
Jon Soltz was, as usual, spectacular. Stan Romanek seemed to lack credibility, especially when he noted that many famous scholars were involved with his case, but couldn’t name any.
As far as the discussion of Cheney and torture, it is getting very old and tired. The same circular arguements offer little new solutions to the issues raised.
I believe the correct idea of that post is that a judicial branch is to save the minority from the tyranny of the majority. However, in this case, I believe the most that should be expected is that those who are already married will be viewed as married. I believe the court will not interfere with the election results; largely because of the California constitution, amendments, and relevant statutes all suggest a wide latitude for the electorate to make wholesale changes in the basice structures of the California governess.
I believe someone forgot their bag of rocks on this one. Dumb as a bag of rocks? Yep. Regardless of the issues, this type of publicity damages a university and it’s students. Credibility of an institution is paramount in graduates attempting to compete with others of their class in the job market. For a university to make a brash, ill thought out statement like this certainly does their student graduates harm in the tough competitive job market this year. Percieved bigotry, real or not, is not cundusive to boosting credibility.
Sounds like an episode of Mad Men. I can remember standards like those back in the early 70’s. It has been a very slow progression to freedom since then, but some changes are more difficult to accept.
The myth about Clinton not going after Bin Laden is one of the most common lies of the radical right talking points. It is ironic that they now want to ignore talking about prior administrations.
Bush and his administration came into power with a total disdain for anything that came from the Clinton people. All concerns expressed about Al Quida, terrorism, intelligence, and/or national security were swept away in an ignorant swoosh of ideological fanatism.
Cheney symbolizes the complete collapse of moral and ethical leadership due to the panicked administration. America was attacked twice on their watch…9/11 and the anthrax attacks…and they couldn’t catch either perpetrator…so, they attacked Iraq
Now, if all those nifty torture techniques worked so damn well, why did they stop them in 2005? Did we become less safe after they quit using them? If Guantanimo Bay and the Abu Garib incidents were separate the Abu Garib incidents only the work of a few bad apples, why are the techniques so similar? Why do the outside contractors appear in both places with both places having abuses? Remember, they “adjusted” Guantanimo procedures because some “went too far”. Why would you need a medic there if the torture techniques were safe?
Poor citizen Cheney keeps confessing to his own crimes. His torture rationalization tour will, unfortunate for him, lead to his own demise as a free person. If our government doesn’t prosecute the lawbreakers, some other nation will. Either way, we lost our honor beginning the day that Supreme Court was activist enough to put their man in the white house…..sad for America.
She lost for other reasons….her point total was testified to by Trump himself…of course, his hairpiece thought otherwise, but Trump insisted that her opinion did not place her in second.
Facts that are contrary to the statements made by someone tend to discredit their arguements. Self serving deprication of events, previously discredited declarations, and emotion clouding 28 references to 9/11 within nonsequiter logic streams does nothing for people to alter their previously accurate perceptions.
Choice….I know many who have chosen to die…I know many others who attempted to die, yet were saved dispite their best efforts. To see someone taking responsibility for their life, and being supported by those who love them….is this something that we should encourage with the caveat that chemo therapy is the act of introducing toxic substances (some call it poison) to the body with the known effects of making the person terribly ill? I wonder is we should interject? Is the child protection agency and government creating another Terry Schivo case?
Bill said that sadly, some must die for others to live. I am so sorry…and it hits home. I almost gaurantee that she would want you trudging that road you are already on….and know that she is also in the Fellowship of the Spirit…I will pray for her, and you, my fellow trudger….may she find the serenity that she was not able to find in this world.
Rule 62, James, me lad….resentments are resentments only if you hold in anger and allow it to grow. We both know anger is the result of fear. Here, one needs not build a resentment if one rids oneself of the trash that is dumped there by another….
