Work on the software a bit if you can, the spam filter is annoying. Other than that, it’s a swell place, thanks for having us, and Happy Birthday to the Blog.
Increased the EIC, Increased the Child Tax credit, Internet Tax Nondiscrimination Act, SAFETEA-LU ( minus damned Alaska Bridge), Adam Walsh Act.
What W did bad?
PATRIOT Act, Guantanamo Bay, Dept of Homeland Security, FEMA, No Child Left Behind, Joint Resolution vs. Iraq, Homeland Security Act, HS Appropriations Act, Secure Fence Act, VETOED Stem Cell Research, VETOED Water Resources Development Act (Overturned by House and Senate -thankfully- we needed the jobs and environmental programs), VETOED Childrens Health Insurance Plan (nice, thinking of the kids), Department of Health and Human Services Appropriations Act of 2008 (Apparently Bush didn’t want to ban flu Shots that could potentially cause Autism in small children), and finally the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003, which economist said would increase the deficit by over 300 BILLION by 2008. Guess they were right Georgie boy.
Anywho – that’s why I hated Bush’s politics.
There are more to go on the bad list, but I don’t feel like typing anymore on this subject. He’s out, and I couldn’t be happier. He’s done hurting America.
And why does the atheist always blame God first?
I’m glad Mr. Frosty saw the irony here.
The problem is not and has never been any god. The problem is the arrogance of religion.
Oh, did I mention that while I was laying in the street nobody, NOBODY, stopped to help. No one called the cops, no one got a tag number from the guy that hit me.
Most of them were probably religious people (considering Athiests are at best 10-20% of the world’s population) who figured you were being punished by God. Who are they to intervene? I would have stopped and called an ambulance. I would have also stayed and made sure you were stable and found out everything I could. But that’s just me, a non-religious guy walking down the street. I believe you should do good things because they’re good things. I don’t do good things because an invisible man in space is going to spank me or burn me when I die.
I pray the nation gets through this without irreversible damage.
If it can survive Bush/Cheney, it can survive just about anything. Of course, the babies killed by liberals cannot be brought back.
I have never seen a liberal go into a nursery anywhere and kill a baby. Though I have seen a granny punt one on the internet. http://llnw.content.jibjab.com/content/13df103cd5184e982aba6698363a5d4d820a0e7f
Socialism has been tried before and it doesn’t work but you people are too stupid to recognize that fact.
Socialism is being tried NOW by the current administration. Bailouts and whatnot are all various types of socialist policy. But you are too stupid to recognize that fact.
Willy, that doesn’t address the issue that america was started by terrorists. The French only helped us because they were perpetually warring with the British, same reason we helped Afghanistan against Russia.
The ‘Golden Rule’ like much of the bible, was borrowed (as in plagiarized) from other, older religions.
Confucius said similar things a thousand years earlier.
Certainly he did, but that doesn’t make it any less relevant. It’s a central theme in most religions, one that many people sadly ignore.
It’s still a noble ideal, and to those people that pursue that ideal with sincerity, and their faith with sincerity, I wish them the best of everything. The few truly sincere Christians that I’ve met are wonderful people, and use God as an emotional healing tool. “Use” God is a bad choice of words, but hopefully that won’t offend anyone and they’ll get what I mean.
Weaver and Tony, Kudos to you for your posts and presence.
Off topic, somewhat religious side-note:
My mechanic is an evangelical, nice guy, but one day my buddy left a pentacle hanging on my rear-view mirror. The guy asked me if I was a satanist and we got into a long discussion, the gist of which was that if I didn’t believe in ’satan’ I could hardly be a satanist. He asked me why I would let a pentacle hang in my car – “My friend borrowed the car, he’s a practicing Wiccan. I hold no religious preference.”
I give him my car and there’s a cross hanging from the same chain when I get back. So I left it there. Currently, there is a cross, a pentacle, star of david, star and crescent, yin and yang, a Jain hand and a little Buddha foot. Granted I’m missing quite a lot, but after a while I suspect I’ll end up breaking the rear-view mirror off. There are many people willing to give me a new piece for the collection.
when I was a teenager I used to smoke a lot of pot. One of my favorite pasttimes was getting a group of stoned people, watching Scooby-Doo with the sound muted, and supplying our own script in real time. Laughs were had. tears were shed.

America was founded by ‘terrorists’. Depending on your point of view. The Sons of Liberty used violence and scare tactics to rebel against the King and to terrorize Loyalist colonists.
Most famous of these terrorists? Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, John Adams, John Hancock, etc.
Is it right that they used massive violence and even killed people (something even Ayers didn’t do) because of something they believed in? If America had lost it’s bid for independence and the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, would those people not have been hanged for treason to the established government of the time?
Remember your history, it gives a clearer view of the world.
