Perhaps if some of the problems that contribute to Americans’ sense of entitlement/need are solved, the reliance on government assistance could be abated.
But when people are working 40-60-70 hour work weeks, and have a hard time “keeping the economy stimulated” while losing their health care, homes, cars and families, the government becomes the entity to which they look for help, when capitalism has replaced democracy in America.
People moan and whine about how they can’t get through the day without “their” coffee–and then turn around and condemn people with a need for nicotine or heroin.
It’s all chemicals, and different forms of drug abuse.
