not too long ago you commented that you wanted to have shows with liberals, all the right-wing spew was getting to you.
well, too often i have noticed, when folks with something positive and liberal to share call you, you’re quite dismissive and un-entertainingly kind of rude. e.g., when a caller tried to share about a number of israeli peace groups with you & us, you cut him off. that is never the case, however, when someone is your invited guest ~ even if what s/he says is wacko (like ann coulter). in those scenarios, without exception (that i’ve ever heard), you bend over backwards to be the perfect gentleman. it seems as if there is a caste system in your head.
i don’t think you realize that you play a jekeyll & hyde on your show, but it’s what i’ve observed over many months of listening, which i do, for those moments when an intelligent, thoughtful, progressive, edifying as well as entertaining dialogue (or monologue) actually happens. the rest of the time i just have to wonder why your attitude is so needlessly disrespectful and un-listenable. what is accomplished by turning off your base? or do you really only want to engage with
those whose perspective is at odds with yours, and the hell with the rest of us who may be more in agreement
with you than not? it’s hard to take your longing for intelligent liberal conversation seriously, if you believe that liberal listeners who call have little that’s worthwhile to discuss.
perhaps it might help to try to actually hear and understand what they’re saying! maybe you’re just missing the boat at times when it comes to absorbing and processing non-wacko input.
how can we even dream of peace anywhere when our own interactions serve to defeat the possibility?
thank you for reading this and thinking about it ~ if you do…
