“God forbid you should part with your pennies to help your fellow man.”
Pennies? You mean large chunks of our income? You might be rich, TDro, but I ain’t. I don’t need the government stealing my money and giving it to other people. We need a national sales tax.
“Since I don’t favor sending our troops off to die in an unnecessary war, and I don’t favor allowing people to die because they can’t afford healthcare, that makes me a liberal.”
But you do support certain wars that YOU arbitrarily deem necessary, so you support the deaths of civilians and soldiers.
You support providing people with healthcare, but do you support providing people with full mental healthcare or just basic “organic” healthcare? My mental health hinges on me being rich, so I’m gonna need your free healthcare system to provide me with some $$$$ bucks so I can be fully mentally healthy. That’s the compassionate, liberal thing to do, because without it, I’m not healthy, TDro. You would want me to be mentally unhealthy? You uncaring scoundrel!
People shouldn’t be hated for their views, however crazy you think they are. I think certain views can be disliked.
Examples: I like Alan Colmes, but I don’t like a lot of his political views. He’s a damn good entertainer and an enjoyment to listen to. I still find it hilarious sometimes that poor Alan is on a conservative news channel, so the right-wing dislikes him for his views and the left-wing dislikes him because he’s on a conservative news channel. I guess since his sister-in-law and mother-in-law are conservatives then his families reflects that dichotomy as well.
Or, I like TDro, but I dislike his views. With proper medication, I feel TDro would probably espouse the correct viewpoint (my viewpoint) on most issues.
“What does this have to do with health care insurance reform, exactly?”
That wasn’t what I was referring to, so I could ask you the same question: “What does health care insurance reform have to do with the question of whether Americans have a RIGHT to health care, exactly?” The bioethicist is going to try to make the case that we all deserve free health care.
As much as it pains me, I don’t think Americans have a “right” to health care. I have no issue with certain types of health insurance reform.
“Just curious what you think about that, Flap, that’s all…”
I understand the arguments for the right to health care. Some are pretty convincing, and like an atheist probably *WANTS* to believe in God, I *WANT* to be for free health care for all, no restrictions. But, again, where does “health care” end? It’s easy to take care of organic disorders/diseases that have an identifiable etiology, but what about mental health? Mental health is so damn complicated, and I think everyone DESERVES, IDEALLY, to be healthy and happy. I just don’t think it’s possible or feasible.
So you probably are for health care to an extent…but not full mental health care that reflects happiness and contentment wherein I need to be rich and famous to be fulfilled and happy? Doesn’t everyone deserve that, ethically speaking?
It’s on both sides, TDro, granted. But for you or Alan to claim “moral high ground” when your side went crazy mad over Bush for 8 years is just illogical.
Relating to that, all I can say to anyone on this board is if you’re 50 or older, get a colonoscopy! Colon cancer is SO EASY to prevent if caught early. Grows very very slowly.
“worst president in the history of the human race”
I say this from my heart, RocKKKy: contained within your body–your very biological essence–are the worst molecules in the history of time itself! And you’re a DemoKKKrat, so put two and two together.
The hatred was lesser coming from libs against Dubya? I don’t mean from you, Alan, but from many liberals, some of whom post on this site.
Don’t even try to defend the vitriol that was hurled his way (and still is), but I’m sure it “wasn’t as bad” or “never personal” or “justified,” right?
I don’t see the “vile contempt,” by the way. I see some attempted humor…maybe in bad taste?
This sounds anti-immigrant, I think. I’ll agree with you on that.
But it’s not RACISM RACISM RACISM! Any disagreement with Obama or criticism = VEILED RACISM! Gimme a break.
My grandmother was an immigrant, so I’m not anti-immigrant. I am anti illegal immigrant, and because of that many libs would tag me as being an anti-Hispanic racist!
Just think: you all only have to try to defend Obama and his administration for the next 3 years, when Sarah Palin gets to be President. Hang in there!

Hmmm, I’m glad TDro admits that the White House is overtly trying to control us.
