Washington Times: Obama Doesn't Understand America Because Father Was Kenyan

Let’s see if I get this straight. Because Pres. Obama’s absentee father was from Kenya, Obama can’t possibly understand America?

Is this guy smoking pot?

My paternal grandmother is an immigrant and her husband is a 1st generation American citizen. Gee, my dad can’t possibly know what it means to be an American citizen. NOT!

It is true that Obama’s dad had no interest in being an American citizen; however his son did. Else, he would have moved to Kenya or something.

I am wondering if this is a case of anti-immigrant bias; as opposed to just plain racism. Our country has had an anti-immigrant bias for years. It just sometimes masquerade as racial bias, or has it mixed in.

Atlanta Bus Driver Refused To Let Riders Off Until They Prayed

I marvel at the assumptions being made here. All that is known is the man insisted that four people pray before getting off. That is it.

Immediately, the assumption is the man is a Christian and white. Is he? I looked at the web site reporting the story and there wasn’t anything to identify the driver. The one person complaining didn’t even say what kind of prayer; nor did he speak of his own religious background.

Or, should I say “lack of religious background”?

I will say this, for certain. This incident makes for an interesting study on the hearts of the five people.

Democrat Bill Owens The Winner In NY-23

Let’s see. Is Bill Owen, a Blue Dog type Democrat? If so, I’d say the Far Left should watch it. Same would apply to Far Right, as Hoffman did lose in a predominantly Republican district.

I suspect that voters are wanting candidates who are centrist and not Far Left Liberals or Far Right Conservatives.

Democrat Bill Owens The Winner In NY-23

I have a couple of question about the election.

Did District 23, in New York go with Obama in the last election? I thought they did. Perhaps, I may have misheard.

My other question pertains to the new Virginia governor, McDonnel. From what I understand, he ran as a moderate. Is this guy a conservative who ran as a moderate or is he an actual Republican moderate.

Chris Christie Projected Winner In NJ Governor's Race

Fascinating! :)

So, it took a moderate to win the state of Virginia and a moderate to win NJ. Yet, the outright conservative Hoffman lost to Bill Owen.

I think the Republicans need to take a better look at themselves; more so than the Democrats.

Yes, the Democrats do need to take heed but not for the same reasons, though. For them, they need to rethink the ideas of using taxes to solve the problems. Better yet, they need to look at why Corzine lost. The man lost for good reasons.

I don’t know about Virginia.

Chris Christie Projected Winner In NJ Governor's Race

That is true. In NJ, it is more about Corzine than Obama.

Notice that it took a moderate to win and not a conservative?

I’ll be interested in seeing the exit poll results, as I’d like to see how the votes turned out in each of the varying demographic areas.

Heck, I’d like to see the # of Dems voting for Christies and those showing party loyalties. I think we’re going to see some interesting results

Richard Viguerie: "Tea Party Acitivsts Are The New GOP"

I am fondly recalling the Republican presidential debates, when they had about six candidates running. It was fascinating to see certain individuals claiming to be more conservative than their opponents.

I felt sorry for Gov. Mike Huckabee, as he was the more reasonable (moderate) of the bunch. Compared to the others, Mike was no pure conservative. In fact, he was being accused of being liberal.

As I read Richard Viguerie’s post, I can’t help but agree that the two parties do need a shaking out. Personally, I think the extreme right and the extreme left need to leave and form their own parties. Perhaps then they will learn just how accepted they really are.

Louisiana Justice Of The Peace Denies Interracial Couple Marriage License

Shep Smith Explains How Insurance Companies Benefit With No Public Option

There seem to be three groups that are bent on destroying this country. By destroying, I am refering to chaos and the aftermath of self centered greed.

Please tell me, if I’m missing something.

1. The health insurance companies: It appears that many of these guys are more worried about their profit margin and staying in business. It is rather macabre to see people not being willing to cover pre-existing conditions or do the very thing the federal government was being accused of. That is, getting in the way of patients and their doctors. I don’t think these guys were ever interested in real reforms that impacts their ability to make money.

2. The Far Left: I’m talking about those who insist on a system that would only create chaos for this country and who would insist on abortion being paid for via federal money. Gee, President Obama is a pragmatic Socialist and HE DOES NOT WANT TO GO THAT WAY. Yes, he believe in single payer but Obama does not want to do that here. I don’t agree with Pres. Obama on the single payer system but I do have a good deal of respect for him, for not insisting on something that would prove harmful to this country.

3. I am getting the sense that there is a third group that isn’t interest in real reform, but I’m not sure of who.

________

Thanks Alan for telling us, about Shep’s interview. Shep appears to be a moderate. It is nice to see someone stand up to these politicians and speak out against misrepresentations about the healthcare debate. This doesn’t surprise me, as I’ve seen how Shep covered Katrina. He cares about people and not so focused on political ideology. Go Shep!!

Facebook Poll: Should Obama Be Killed? (UPDATED)

Gee, I think Alan would really enjoy that poll. NOT! Not sure, I think EricG was being sarcastic or something. That is, not to be taken seriously.

Curt Schilling's Crediential To Run For Senate: "No Baggage"

Let’s see, we have a radio talk show host who’s a Senator. We’ve had actors as Congressmen, Senator and “gasp” a President.

Curt Schilling's Crediential To Run For Senate: "No Baggage"

The assumption is Curt will run as a Republican. Eh, what if he ran as a Democrat?

By the way, I liked those old Avalon Hill WWII strategy games, but I’m not into giving the NRA free reign. Yes, I’m for limited gun control.

Rocky, I’m also a “born again” Christian and yet I see myself as a moderate liberal. I just don’t see myself as a conservative.

Now, what is this about assumption? Let’s wait and see. If Curts want to have a decent chance with winning Kennedy’s old seat then he’ll have to run as a “blue Dog” and not a Republican.

The Friday Free-For-All

There were two eulogies that struck a definite chord with me. They were delivered by Sen. Kennedy’s two sons. I can easily identify with their struggles.

My dad was supportive; however not in the way that these men’s dad was. As I prayed for these guys, it seems I ended up getting ministered to. I’ll explain.

In my mind, I found myself in front of that icy hill in Boston. It was as if I was with the man’s father and he was helping me up that hill. Only it was not Sen. Ted Kennedy. It was God, the Father. As we went up the hill, I could hear some of the same thing that Ted had said to his son and more.

A chord was struck deep in my heart, as my earthly dad never struck me as being like this. I know that neither men are perfect; though I wouldn’t put my dad in the same category.

Yes, I forgave my dad and gladly received the healing i needed. Funny what happens when one prays a blessing on another person.

I realized earlier today, what happened. As I brought it up here, I thought I’d tell what happened. :) Praise God!

The Friday Free-For-All

I have a question. I am watching the various speeches concerning Sen. Ted Kennedy. When it came to the personal stories, I can’t help but be crying as if I were grieving. I don’t have any personal knowledge of the man. What is with these waves of sadness? I didn’t get them when Reagan died.

Rep. Virginia Foxx: Health Care Reform Is A Distraction

I was going to ask how your son is doing. I’m also praying for you, your son and family.

Idaho GOP Leader Arrested For Aggravated Assault

This story sounds very fishy. Even if McAffee is a small guy and Lute was built like a football player or Bill O’Reilly, there is no need to pull out a gun.

There is probably more to this story then what appears.

Surveys Show America Wants A Public Health Care Option

Did anyone notice the quotation marks around the word, “choice”. All that is being said is, people want to be able to choose between multiple option -including a government run insurance. What is not desirable is being forced into a public option.

Public option does have a place in our country’s healthcare system; however, it is only a partial solution. I like the ideas of tax incentives for small business to encourage getting health insurance. I, also like co-ops; as they can make getting health insurance more easily.

Why The Public Health Care Option Is So Important

I think you hit the right approach. We should break the Health Care issue down to its component parts.

To be honest, I do believe that the US does have one of the best quality of care, in a variety of area. However, I have to ask “Why are seniors and others driving to Canada for their medicines?”

Is it just the cost of prescription medicine that people go outside the US? I’ve seen the look of shock when people go to pay for $100+ medicine!

It is one thing to earn a profit, but not at the expense of the poor and our senior citzens. It may well be that we should place the drug industry under public option; as they don’t seem to care that their customers can’t afford those pricey and needed medicine. Stop robbing the people.

What about reimbursement or the price of a test or procedure? The issue is not about the price tag associated with these test or procedures. I’m referring to what the health insurance company pays the doctors for such items.

As I listen to this aspect of the Health care Debate, I am struck by the perverted logic here. The attitude I am seeing and hearing is this:

“I won’t make any money if I order an MRI. So, I won’t order it.”

Whoah there! This is an ethic issue and public option will not change this. The change has to come from within ourselves and how we choose to view people and the practice of medicine. Are we valuing money more than a human life? We should not be putting price tag on a human life. The temptation is think that a public option will cure this. Unless we change the heart attitude, public option, co-ops and private will not work in this part of the debate.

Why The Public Health Care Option Is So Important

I like the idea of a “public option”, under certain circumstances. As a person born with disabilities and likely considered to have “pre-existing” conditions, I don’t get the choices that is being celebrated by conservatives. Health Insurance companies are not exactly fond of covering such individuals. As I’m not dying from being extremely nearsighted and hearing impaired, it isn’t to frustrating However, I’d hate to be in my aunt’s shoes as she is diagnosed with cancer.

Public option is in many ways the only alternative to private insurance. In cases like this or for the very poor who can’t afford private health insurance, there aren’t too many feasible choices. Hence, the reason I like public option.

However, people shouldn’t be forced into this option. There are many who can afford private insurance and should keep it. Mind you, this tends to be people who get it through their jobs.

What I’d like see is this. Bring down the cost of those premium in a way that is INCOME sensitive. This way more can afford private insurance.

FWIW, I am on the Medicare Advantage program and I’m covered by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield. My premium is based on the level of care. This doesn’t include Medicare premium.

Gee, it seems Horizon has no problem getting behind Medicare (government run).

Don't Blame Republicans, Blame Democrats For Lack Of Progress

I believe this is what’s happening in those “Town Hall” meetings. Those leaders seeking to take advantage of these things are being taken into account. They’re getting a sharp reminder that they work for us.

I do agree with Pres. Obama about the Cable News network flocking to meetings that promises conflicts. Somehow, I don’t think all the Town Hall meetings are like the ones shown on Fox, CNN and MSNBC.

What? Show a meeting where people talk and act like adults and respect each others? Boring!

Don't Blame Republicans, Blame Democrats For Lack Of Progress

Off Topic:

Hey Alan,

I wanted to thank you for your help, Saturday afternoon. A young man came into my church and I was the only one there. He’s of Jewish descent and considers himself “half Jewish” and half Catholic. Because of your comments and some insights into reform Judiasm, I was able to connect with him. I didn’t prosletize, as he just wanted to know what the church his fiance was coming to.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled political chat.

Don't Blame Republicans, Blame Democrats For Lack Of Progress

What is in a name? It sounds like the Dems are having the same problem that the Reps have. A search for identity.

Though I disagree with the push within the Republican party to drive out the “moderates”; I will give them dredit for trying to have a singular voice. The main problem will be “How do you define conservatism”

Now it is the Democrats turn. How do you define “liberalism? During the 1860s, the Republicans were branded “liberals”. They wanted to change the status quo.

The words “liberal” and “conservative” are not bad words. What of “socialism”? Isn’t this what liberals hate and dread being called? I believe there are two types.

Involuntary socialism is where the government is in the role of deliberately dictating how one should act or behave. All this is done to change a person’s behaviors so as to be fair to everyone. There is just one problem. It is the same one the authoritarians have. It is the heart that needs changing and from there will spring a right outward behavior.

A second form of socialism is called “voluntary socialism” and I will refer to what is seen in Acts 2 & 4. It was a communal setting and it was all voluntary and free choice. The government doesn’t butt in to enforce anything and it doesn’t have to.

Wingnut Of The Day: GA Congressman Paul Broun

Alan,

I have a semi related question for you. Will you be awarding the “WingNuts Award” to those on the left, too? Let’s keep it, fair and balance.

Why Did This Guy Bring A Loaded Gun To Obama's Town Hall Meeting?

I just visited Wikipedia and looked up John Wayne. There is a lot to like and respect the man for. It seems some could take a lesson from John Wayne, when his man, Richard Nixon lost his bid to the White House. John Wayne reportedly said that “JFK is my president and I hope he does good.”

Yes, I read about his not so bright interview with Playboy. Now, I better understand the kind words from George Takei in his Trek biography.

Why Did This Guy Bring A Loaded Gun To Obama's Town Hall Meeting?

Now, I am curious to find out about the “real” John Wayne. By real, I mean the actual person as opposed to the phony Hollywood image.

I was never into machoism when growing up, so I wasn’t to fond of those old Western I saw in the 70s. The ones I saw were on TV.
